Treasure In Heaven
Treasure in Heaven
Lyrics by Dennis L. Harrison
There’s a mother that feeds hungry people in the streets;
She has laid up her treasure in Heaven.
Her last day no one cried, and no one asked, “Why?”
‘Cause she died the same day Di was buried.
Ooooh, she has laid up her treasure in Heaven.
For the princess they cried on the night that she died.
And they wondered, How this could ever happen?
But the nun’s work was done; she was welcomed by the Son.
She had laid up her treasure in Heaven.
Oooh, makes me wonder—
Where we’ve laid our treasure…
For many long years, Billy’s message was clear:
“Repent, and you will be forgiven.”
He still preaches on though his strength is all gone;
He has laid up his treasure in Heaven.
Oooh, makes me wonder-
Where we’ve laid our treasure…
There’s a thought in our land, and it’s taking us down.
There are many different ways to get to Heaven.
But straight is the gate, and narrow is the way,
And few there will ever be to find it.
Oooh, we need a Savior,
Oooh, there is no other.
Lay not up treasures for yourself here upon earth
Where moth and rust will corrupt it;
And where thieves break through to rob it or to steal it
‘Cause where your treasure is, your heart will be.
Oooh, makes me wonder—
Where we’ve laid our treasure…
When we do favors for a good friend or a neighbor,
And help a brother in need,
Show loving kindness to the helpless or the homeless,
In heaven our treasure will ever be.
We like sheep have gone astray.
We just can’t go our separate way.
Listen to what God has to say:
Our debt of sin He came to pay.
His precious blood-our soul to save;
He is the Potter; we are the clay.
We need to bow our heads and pray.
We need to trust God and obey.
We need to serve God every day…
We’ll be laying all our treasures up in heaven.
