That's How I Feel
That’s How I Feel

Like a bird set free from a cage,
Like a laid-back summer day,
A young boy coming of age.
That’s how I feel.
Like a convict let out of jail,
Like your favorite jeans on sale,
A lost man finding the trail that leads him back home.
That’s how I feel.
Freedom makes me feel I’m free from my oppressors.
And my enemies will burn.
That’s how I feel; You ask me how I feel.
No more chains around my feet–that’s how I feel.
Like a baby’s first ice cream cone,
Like a big dog finding a bone,
Like a soldier finally makin’ it home.
Back from the war.
‘The smell of your dad’s aftershave,
Staying home on a rainy day,
Like the way that you feel when you pray
Down on your knees.
That’s how I feel.
Freedom makes me feel.
Now I’m free from my oppressors,
And my enemies will burn.
That’s how I feel.
You ask me how I feel.
No more chains around my feet.
My victory’s complete.
I’ll never accept defeat; that’s how I feel.
And as a matter of fact, I ain’t never lookin’ back.
And just remember since you asked,
That’s how I feel.
Like a bird set free from a cage…
