It’s Only Gospel Songs
It’s Only Gospel Songs
by Jesse L. McCuin
If we could sing a-like were born again,
And fill the Devil’s heart with rage.
It’s not to satisfy ya but to glorify,
And getcha on the floor to pray, your knees to pray.
If we could win ya…
If we could sing ya a faith song so divine.
Would it be enough to change your ol’ heart,
and help ya break right down and cry? Would you cry?
I said, “I know it’s only gospel songs, but we like ’em.”
I said, “I know it’s only gospel songs, but we like ’em,
Like ’em, yes, we do.”
We like ’em, we like ’em, we like ’em…
I said, “Can’t you see that these ol’ boys have been workin’?”
If we could sing enough and break down your pride;
Might have to put ourselves on the page.
Would it be enough of a help if you knew—
We’re all just sinners saved by His grace? By His grace?
We always dig way down deep in our hearts.
Our feelin’s flood all over the stage.
We try to testify you; don’t let it slide on by ya.
These ‘ol boys are not insane. We’re not insane.
“I know it’s only gospel songs, but we like ’em.”
I said, “I know it’s only gospel songs,
but we like ’em, Like ’em, yes, we do.”
We like em, oh, yes, we like ’em, we like ’em…
I said, “Can’t you see that these ‘ol boys have been workin’?”
But we sure hope were not the only ones around,
And we sure hope ya get ta hear more gospel sounds.
I said, “I know it’s only gospel songs, but we like em.”
It’s only gospel songs.
I said, “I know it’s only gospel songs, but we like ’em.”
It’s only gospel songs.
I said, “I know it’s only gospel songs, but we like ’em.”
It’s only gospel songs.
We like ’em…
It’s only gospel songs…
