It Is By Grace We’ve Got Salvation
It Is by Grace We’ve Got Salvation
Lyrics © 2011 by Dennis L. Harrison/Jesse L. McCuin
It is by grace we’ve got salvation;
It is by grace we’ve got salvation.
Yet we work, and we serve, and we try, and we strive.
It is by grace; it is by grace.
While I was surfin’ my TV Sunday mornin,
A man came on to tell me how white my soul could be
If I could only just send a little money-gram
To his call-in ministry.
I said, “Hey, hey! Christ is the way!
It’s all from Him; let’s say Amen.”
It is by grace we’ve got salvation;
It’s the only way to sanctification.
Yet we work, and we serve, and we try, and we strive.
It is by grace; it is by grace.
‘Cause I couldn’t go back to sleep that morning’,
I was leanin’ back in my Lay-Z-B.
And a voice inside my head was askin, “If he couldn’t go
To heaven ’cause he didn’t have the same doctrine as me?”
I said, “Hey, hey! Christ is the way.
It’s all from Him; let’s say Amen.”
It is by grace we’ve got salvation;
We can’t do enough to earn salvation.
Yet we work, and we serve, and we try, and we strive.
It is by grace; it is by grace.
You’re a-runnin’ around a stadium track;
You got a cross and a fish on your t-shirt back.
You’re in a praise band, teach a Sunday school class,
But it won’t guarantee a heavenly pass.
When grace came down,
It made us upward bound.
Hey, hey! Christ is the way!
It’s all from Him; let’s say Amen.
It is by grace we’ve got salvation;
It is by grace we’ve got salvation.
Yet we work, and we serve, and we try, and we strive.
It is by grace; it is by grace.
