I Am An American

Just listen to the news; they say that it’s gettin’ bad.
     The dream is over, and the people are mad.
Never enough, no matter how much we give-
     Maybe they should find another country to live.

How blessed we are to be livin’ in our Father’s land.
     From coast to coast with faith and hope united we stand.
Freedom to serve our God and country and liberty for every man-
     I’m so thankful that I am an American.

I’m tired of people always puttin’ us down.
     There’s no other country in the world can be found
Where freedom, equality, and justice abound,
     And that’s why this country is the land of renown.

How blessed we are to be livin’ in our Father’s land.
     From coast to coast with faith and hope united we stand.
Freedom to serve our God and country and liberty for every man-
     I’m so thankful that I am an American.

We got our freedom, and you know it don’t come cheap.
     A lot of men have gave their lives for peace.
So when you say your prayers in bed tonight before you sleep,
     Pray to the Lord above our soldiers He will keep.
