Garden Party
Garden Party
Lyrics by Dennis L. Harrison
John 18:1-3
“When Jesus had spoken these words, he went over the brook: Cidron.
Where there was a garden, and he entered it with his disciples.
And Judas also who betrayed him, knew the place.
For Jesus often resorted there with his disciples.
Judas then, having received a band of men and officers,
from the Chief Priest and Pharisees, came with lanters, and torches, and weapons.”
The Lord had a garden party
With His disciples in Gethsemane.
They just had finished their Last Supper;
He’d just washed their feet.
He said, “You all will deny Me.”
Peter said, “Oh, no, not I.”
But the Lord said, “You know before the cock crows twice,
You’ll deny me thrice.”
And I’m goin’ to the cross
Because the world is lost.
You see, My Father has a redemption plan,
And I can pay the cost.
He walked on a little further
With Peter, James, and John.
He said, “Will you watch and pray With me for a while?”
As they began to yawn;
He prayed, “My heavenly Father,
Would You let this cup pass from Me?
But not My will but Thine be done.”
Then it was time to leave.
And I’m goin’ to the cross
Because the world is lost.
You see, My Father has a redemption plan,
And I can pay the cost.
Then to the garden party came a band of angry men.
Judas kissed Him on the cheek,
And called Him “Master” and “Friend.”
That was the sign to them.
That ended the garden party;
The disciples ran and hid.
They led Him away, and on the very next day,
You know they crucified Him.
And I’m goin’ to the cross
Because the world is lost.
You see, My Father has a redemption plan,
And I can pay the cost.
Alleluia!
And I’m goin’ to the cross
Because the world is lost.
You see, My Father has a redemption plan,
And I can pay the cost.
