200 Miles South

My state has way too many people.
     And, oh, how they love their city life.
They really don’t care about our valley-
     No concern for our farmer’s plight.

Our way of life is being threatened;
     They say our way of life’s out of style.
If they want to keep on eatin’; and the rest of the world keep feedin’
     If they think we can grow without water, they’re in denial.

I’m livin’ somewhere between Los Angeles and San Francisco-
     Where there’s a lot more cows than people.
It’s where your food is grown when they let the water flow
     Two hundred miles south of Sacramento.

We love the earth as much as they do.
     That’s why we love to farm our ground.
If they continue to take our water,
     These valley farms we love won’t be around.

I’m livin’ somewhere between Los Angeles and San Francisco-
     Where there’s a lot more cows than people.
It’s where your food is grown when they let the water flow-
     Two hundred miles south of Sacramento.
It’s where your food is grown when they let the water flow,
     Two hundred miles south of Sacramento.

This state was golden; now nothin’s growin’
     Without water- pure delta water,
We can’t keep goin’ with this dry wind that’s blowin’;
     And there’s not a lot of comfort knowin’

That I’m livin’ somewhere between Los Angeles and San Francisco,
     Where there’s a lot more cows than people.
It’s where your food is grown when they let the water flow-
     Two hundred miles south of Sacramento.
Two hundred miles south of Sacramento.
