Why Be Ashamed

© 2012 by Dennis L. Harrison

They’re all so “seeker friendly”; they never talk about sin.
They’re so nice that they will win ya.
“You don’t have to be born again;
Have another cup of coffee, a donut or a roll.?’
And they’ll never ask about your eternal soul.

Why be ashamed? Why be afraid?
     The gospel hasn’t changed.
Don’t ya play games; time still remains.
There’s still power in His name.
The church ain’t a club or a café,
But a place that we should pray.
People are lost,
Burn off the dross, and put back the cross.

They say,
“They believe in Jesus,” and they’ve put their trust in God.
But the only miracle they seek is when money is involved.
They don’t ask you to the altar,
To stand up, or raise your hand.
Just keep on comin’ back every time you can.

Why be ashamed? Why be afraid?
     The gospel hasn’t changed.
Don’t you play games; time still remains.
There’s still power in His name.

The church ain’t a club or a café,
But a place that we should pray.
People are lost,
Burn off the dross, and put back the cross.

Political correctness
     Has crept into the church,
And it’s left the Christian world
     In a horrible dearth.
Why be ashamed? Why be afraid?
     The gospel hasn’t changed.
Don’t you play games; time still remains.
There’s still power in His name.
The church ain’t a club or a café,
But a place that we should pray.
People are lost,
Burn off the dross, and put back the cross.

People are lost;
     Why be ashamed?
Don’t be afraid-
     Put back the cross.
