Sweet Communion

Sweet communion, early mornin’ reunion,

Hot cup of coffee on that long drive, doin’ my job.

You were there beside me as we headed down the highway,

And at seventy miles an hour, You heard my prayers each day.

I heard your directions; You heard intercessions.

Heard all my confessions travelin’ down that long, hard road.

Healed all my depressions, even granted me protection,

And you’re the closest friend that I have ever known.

And it was.

Sweet communion, early mornin’ reunion,

Hot cup of coffee on that long drive, doin’ my job.

You were there beside me as we headed down the highway,

And at seventy miles an hour, You heard my prayers each day.

Helped me with my decisions, even gave me some visions.

Even saw a few angels, the guardian type, I’m sure.

I was never lonely with Your loving arms around me,

And even when the road was rough, I always felt secure.

Those special times we spent together,

Truckin’ that cargo down the line.

Through rain, and fog, and snowy weather,

Your presence always gave me peace of mind.

I stopped at a tollbooth; he didn’t say it was no use.

The man didn’t know that the bridge had washed away.

As I sped on all out, I heard the sound of a blowout.

And it’s because of that flat tire, I’m standin’ here today.

And it was..

Sweet communion, early morning reunion,

Hot cup of coffee on that long drive, doin’ my job.

You were there beside me as we headed down the highway,

And at seventy miles an hour, You heard my prayers each day.
