Clean In Prison
Clean In Prison

I had it all-money, fast cars, and friends,
And I was good at baseball;
I thought it would never end.
I could get by on a wink and a smile.
Then I declined a steady downhill slide.
Now I’m in prison; don’t cry for me.
I’ve been forgiven; His pardon received.
I’ll keep believing; His light I’ve seen.
Oh, it took going to prison to get myself clean.
These prison walls–they don’t drag me down.
If I hadn’t been sent here,
Id probably be in the ground.
Someday I’ll leave here and be a free man.
But I’ll never taste such freedom
As when I took my Savior’s hand.
Back at my home, there’s an empty chair and table.
I hope someday that I’ll be able
To have a homecooked meal,
And tell ’em ’bout my ordeal-
How Jesus’ saving grace it is so real.
If you’re in prison and want to be free,
You can be forgiven; get down on your knees.
Just start believing, His light you’ll see.
It might take you going to prison to get yourself clean.
It might take goin’ to prison
To get yourself clean.
